krystal_forthanThe West Virginia's women's basketball team has signed a new addition to the Mountaineer squad, sources have told EERinsider.com

Krystal Forthan, a former 5-star recruit in the 2011 class, spent last season as a member of the LSU Lady Tigers. She averaged 5.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

She scored in double figures five times last season, with her season high 17 points against Alabama State in December. On the season, Forthan shot 35% from behind the arc and 42% from the field.  She was named SEC freshman of the week twice last season.

Coming out of high school, she was ranked by ESPN as the No. 5 overall player in the country and the No. 2 player at her position. She received an overall rating of 96. Her scholarship offers, in addition to LSU, were from USC, North Carolina, Texas A&M and UCLA.

West Virginia's move to the Big 12 conference very well could have played a large role in receiving her commitment. She hails from Georgetown, Texas.

Because of NCAA transfer rules, Forthan will have to sit out next season and become eligible in the 2013-14 season.
