Freedom High School (FL) cornerback Nate Godwin has been relaxing and enjoying the recruiting process racking up 15 offers along the way. With camp set to open for high schools around the country, Godwin is looking to make a decision early into his senior season. Where do the Mountaineers stand? Did they make his Top 3?
Godwin is currently sitting on 15 offers from schools all across the country. It appears that three, and possibly a fourth are sticking out for the 6-foot, 190 pound corner.
"I've come up with more of a top-three leaders list, as opposed to a final three, and that's USF, West Virginia and Iowa State," said Godwin, who has a total of 15 verbal offers.
Could another team jump in the mix?
"I'm going down to UCF this week and I think they will offer. If that happens, it might change a little bit and I might make it a top-four. They're another school in Florida. I want to check out all the Florida schools and make sure those aren't the schools for me before I choose to leave the state."
With South Florida being his hometown school, many think it will be difficult to pull him away from the Bulls. One thing WVU has to accomplish his getting Godwin on campus, and that happens next week.
"Next week I'm going to see West Virginia - I've already got that planned out with the coach," Godwin said.
"West Virginia is a big-time program that's moving to the Big 12. I really like the coaching staff and the defense they run. It's easier for DBs to get on the field. There's a lot of different things that a defensive back can do and I'd be versatile in their defense."
Godwin isn't sure if he will take a visit to Iowa State this summer, but plans to take an official visit during the season.
He plans to make a commitment early in his senior season, but after he's made trips to all of his favorites.
"I plan on making a decision by the middle of the season, and don't want to take long," he said. "I want to see the schools first. I see USF all the time, since they're in my backyard. I'm going to try to see the other schools, and that will give me a clearer view of their environment, facilities, and my comfort level."
This will be one to keep an eye on.
