West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen met with the media Tuesday, and had some interesting nuggets to share. Following a week off for spring break, the Mountaineers were back on the field preparing for the upcoming season.

There were position changes, a player asked to leave the team, and some growth among the freshman.

Defensive lineman Derrick Bryant is no longer with the team. He sat out last season after transferring from UCLA. He was thought to be competing for a starting spot along the line.

True freshman safety Sean Walters has gained 25 pounds since arriving in Morgantown in January. The Floridian arrived weighing 190 pounds, but it reportedly closer to 220 pounds now. Walters is hoping to earn a starting spot on special teams.

Linebacker Donovan Miles is, well, no longer a linebacker. On Tuesday he worked out as a fullback and is likely to stay there. Miles, a fifth-year senior, had nine tackles last season. He's hoping to fill a void left by Matt Lindamood who left the team last week due to ongoing neck injuries.

Rising senior J.P. Lageman has earned a scholarship for his final season as a Mountaineer. The defensive lineman had been a walk-on for the previous 4 years.
